At Cowbridge Lower School, we are exceptionally fortunate to have an extensive outdoor environment that stretches the full width and breadth of our school grounds. Our pupils benefit from a remarkable range of natural spaces, including our large Wild Wood forest area, two ponds, allotments, a vibrant wildflower meadow, generous play areas, and a spacious playing field. Plans are already underway to enhance our grounds even further with new features such as a designated Forest School area with a mud kitchen, water play and collection area as well as a story circle and outdoor reading spots, additional allotments, willow structures and a sensory trail.

Drawing on the principles of the Forest School curriculum, we believe that meaningful outdoor learning is a powerful tool for developing children both academically and holistically. Our ethos of education, inspiration and opportunities for life is reflected in the wide range of hands-on experiences we provide, helping pupils build confidence, resilience, communication skills and a deep connection to the natural world. Research consistently shows that access to quality outdoor education enhances self-esteem, physical well-being, language development and children's overall disposition to learn. At Cowbridge Lower School, we are proud to offer these rich opportunities within our own exceptional grounds, ensuring that every child benefits from engaging, stimulating and purposeful outdoor learning.
