A Visit from Mei Gwynedd

Following the fantastic achievement of our Year 11 pupils in winning a Wales-wide quiz on Dydd Miwsig Cymru, we were thrilled to receive a special prize — a visit from renowned singer-songwriter Mei Gwynedd!

Last Friday, pupils from Lower School, Years 7, 8 and 11 came together to enjoy a fun, lively, and engaging singalong session led by Mei. The hall was filled with song as we celebrated Welsh music and the Welsh language.

In addition, Mei hosted a special workshop for the successful Year 11 quiz teams and their classmates. This session included more singalongs as well as an insightful question-and-answer segment about following a career in the creative/music industry. A special shout-out to Alfie Brind in Year 11 who gave a surprise performance impressing Mei Gwynedd and all of us in the main hall!

The Welsh Department would like to extend their sincere thanks to Mei and to all pupils who contributed to make this such an enjoyable and memorable event. We’re certain there were a few households over the week wondering why ‘Sosban Fach’, ‘Hei Mistar Urdd’ and ‘Yma o Hyd’ were on repeat — we certainly couldn’t get it out of our heads!
