On Friday the 27 February, to celebrate St David’s Day, we held our annual Eisteddfod for Lower School, Year 7 and Year 8 pupils. The Eisteddfod is a special event that recognises and celebrates both Welsh language and culture as well as the huge amount of talent here at Ysgol y Bont Faen.
Pupils competed in a wide range of competitions across all subject areas and it was fantastic to see so many excellent entries. The day was filled with enthusiasm, talent and school spirit as pupils proudly shared their work and supported one another. A special ‘da iawn!’ goes to those pupils who performed on stage for us. Their singing and recitation performances were outstanding and helped create a truly memorable event.
Pupils almost lifted the roof off of A Block with their powerful singing of ‘Yma o Hyd’, ‘Sosban Fach’, ‘Calon Lân’, and of course ‘Hen Wlad Fy Nhadau’. Their energy and enthusiasm made the day a real highlight for everyone involved.
Congratulations to the winning forms below, whose collective effort before and during the Eisteddfod helped secure the highest number of points on the day. A particular congratulations goes to Katie Francis who was awarded the Year 8 Eisteddfod Chair for her excellent poem on ‘Yr Ardal – The Area’. Llongyfarchiadau!
Finally, a big ‘diolch’ to all staff, pupils and parents/guardians at home who supported the event and helped make this year’s Eisteddfod such a special celebration.
