Wythnos Shwmae
(13/10/2025 – 17/10/2025)

To celebrate Diwrnod Shwmae / Shwmae Day (15/10/2025) and to launch the Siarter Iaith, the school hosted a special Wythnos Shwmae / Shwmae Week. The aim of the week-long celebration was to remind pupils and staff of just how important it is to use the Welsh language every single day.
Pupils took part in a wide range of fun activities both in and out of the classroom, including a shwmae treasure hunt, a Welsh quiz, shwmae assemblies, video-making, and creating colourful Welsh bunting.
The Siarter Iaith is a Welsh Language Charter created by the Welsh Government to encourage schools across Wales to use more Welsh throughout daily school life – this is for both pupils and staff. Schools are recognised through a series of awards, starting at Bronze and progressing to Gold. We are proud to be working towards our Bronze Award this year.
Throughout the week, teaching staff were also asked to listen out for pupils showing a real effort in using Welsh, and we’re delighted to share the names of 17 pupils who particularly impressed their teachers.
Miss Griffiths would also like to say a big diolch to the Crîw Cymraeg for all their help and support throughout the week.
It was fantastic to see so many pupils and staff making an extra effort during Wythnos Shwmae to use their Welsh, and we hope to see that enthusiasm continue.
