We've Done It! Our School is Officially a Green Flag School!

We are absolutely thrilled to share some fantastic news with our school community: our school has officially been awarded Green Flag status!

The Green Flag is an internationally recognised award that honours schools for their commitment to the environment and sustainable development. Earning this is no small feat—it requires dedication, teamwork, and a real passion for making our school a cleaner, greener place to learn.

A Huge Thank You to Our Eco-Committee 🌎

First and foremost, a massive congratulations must go to our wonderful Eco-Committee. These students have worked tirelessly behind the scenes, meeting regularly, brainstorming initiatives, and keeping us all accountable for our environmental footprint. Their leadership and enthusiasm have been the driving force behind this entire campaign.

Mrs Llewelyn’s Master Plan: The Great School Litter Pick

While the Eco-Committee spearheaded the bid, achieving Green Flag status was a true team effort across the entire school. We owe a huge debt of gratitude to Mrs Llewelyn, who designed and organised a brilliant, school-wide litter-picking initiative.

Thanks to her meticulous scheduling, every single form group in the school has taken a turn to roll up their sleeves, grab a litter picker, and clear our school site. Whether it was a damp Tuesday morning or a sunny Friday afternoon, our students stepped up to keep our grounds pristine.

This collective effort did two incredible things:

• It transformed our school environment into a cleaner, safer space for us and local wildlife.
• It reminded all of us that taking care of our planet starts right here on our own doorstep.

What’s Next?

While we are going to take some time to celebrate this brilliant achievement (keep an eye out for our new flag flying proudly on campus!), our green journey doesn't stop here. The Eco-Committee is already looking at our next steps, including reducing single-use plastics and boosting biodiversity around the school fields.
