At Cowbridge School, we believe that reading for pleasure is a cornerstone of learning, imagination, and empathy for students across all ages, from our youngest learners to those preparing for university. Here, you will find lists of books that have been compiled by young people, staff, and organisations that promote reading for pleasure.

As you explore these lists, please remember that you know your child best. Our list is designed to inspire and offer a wide range of genres, authors, and topics, but it is not prescriptive.

We strongly encourage you to spend time with your child in order to:

1. Browse the list together.
2. Research any titles that catch your eye (or any others you're considering). Look up reviews; read short excerpts; and, check for maturity levels and themes.
3. Discuss what your child is drawn to and why.

The best choice is the one you make together with your child, ensuring the book is engaging, appropriate, and sparks a genuine love for reading.
